How local businesses use GetRating

The setup is the same everywhere: a QR code and short link per location that asks every customer for a review. What changes is the moment you ask and the features that help. See features for the full list.

Restaurants and cafés

When to ask: When the bill arrives or at the counter after paying.

  • Print the location's QR code on table tents, receipts or the bill folder.
  • Use A/B mode to spread reviews between Google and TripAdvisor if both matter to your guests.
  • Turn on email alerts so the manager on duty sees private feedback the same day.

Keep in mind: Each branch needs its own location in GetRating so reviews land on the right Google profile.

Salons, barbers and spas

When to ask: At checkout, or in the appointment follow-up message.

  • Put the QR code at the reception desk and add the short link to booking confirmations.
  • Email campaigns (Growth) can send a review request after each visit.
  • Custom branding (Growth) shows your logo and colours on the review page.

Keep in mind: If you use a booking system, check whether it already sends review requests so customers are not asked twice.

Clinics, dentists and physiotherapists

When to ask: After the appointment, at reception or by email.

  • Use the private feedback form so patients can raise concerns directly, with optional contact details.
  • Keep health details out of review requests; ask about the visit experience only.
  • Team seats let reception staff see feedback without sharing one login.

Keep in mind: Health-care rules on patient communication vary by country. Check what your regulator allows before contacting patients for reviews.

Auto repair shops and dealerships

When to ask: When the car is handed back.

  • Put the QR code on the invoice or key tag.
  • SMS campaigns (Business) reach customers who did not scan the code.
  • Competitor tracking (Business) shows how your Google rating compares with up to 3 nearby competitors.

Keep in mind: SMS campaigns use prepaid SMS credits on top of the Business plan.

Retail shops

When to ask: At the till or on the receipt.

  • Print the QR code at the till and on receipts.
  • If you also sell online through Shopify, a connected store can trigger your after-visit email campaign when an order is fulfilled.
  • Use the website widget to show reviews collected through GetRating on your site.

Keep in mind: GetRating collects business reviews, not product reviews for individual items.

Hotels and guest houses

When to ask: At check-out or in the post-stay email.

  • Split reviews between Google, TripAdvisor and a booking site with A/B mode.
  • Review pages are available in 49 languages and follow the guest's browser language.
  • Email campaigns (Growth) can send a review request after the stay.

Keep in mind: Some booking platforms only accept reviews from guests who booked through them; send those guests to the platform's own review flow.

Multi-location businesses and agencies

When to ask: Wherever each location meets its customers.

  • Growth and Business include unlimited locations, each with its own QR code, link and analytics.
  • Team seats with owner, admin and member roles, so managers do not share one login.
  • Webhooks, Slack alerts and the API send feedback into the tools your teams already use.

Keep in mind: GetRating is not white-label. A 'Powered by GetRating' badge stays on public review pages.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of businesses is GetRating for?

Businesses that serve customers in person or in a local area: restaurants, salons, clinics, auto shops, retail stores, hotels, gyms and multi-location chains. It is not built for product reviews in online stores.

Do I need a different QR code for each location?

Yes. Each location gets its own QR code and short link so reviews go to that location's review pages.
