GetRating and Slack
Post GetRating's warning and critical alerts to a Slack channel using a Slack incoming-webhook URL.
Plan: All plans
Who it is for
Teams that already work in Slack and want problems to show up where they talk.
What it does
- Post an alert message to one Slack channel, with a link to the dashboard.
When it runs
- Private feedback that contains urgent words such as 'refund', 'sick', 'safety' or 'complaint' (critical).
- A location's average rating dropping more than 15% compared with the previous week (warning).
- Private feedback waiting longer than your response target for a reply (warning, or critical above 5).
How to set it up
- In Slack, create an incoming webhook for the channel you want (Slack: Apps → Incoming Webhooks).
- Copy the URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/.
- In GetRating, open Dashboard → Integrations → Slack, paste the URL and turn alerts on.
- Send a test message to check that it arrives.
Example
A restaurant group posts alerts to #guest-feedback, so the duty manager sees a 'refund' complaint without opening GetRating.
Limitations
- One Slack webhook URL per account; all locations post to the same channel.
- Informational alerts, such as milestones, are not posted to Slack; they stay in the dashboard.
- New ratings are not posted one by one; use email notifications for that.
Troubleshooting
- 'Invalid Slack webhook URL': the URL must start with https://hooks.slack.com/.
- The test message does not arrive: the webhook may have been removed in Slack; create a new one and paste it again.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Slack integration free?
Yes. It is available on every plan, including Free.
Can I send alerts to different channels per location?
Not today. One webhook URL is stored per account. Use webhooks or Zapier if you need routing per location.
